I didn't come up with an ending as to how the clap sound is made, and the visual development of the interior is just roughed out at this point. I used basic lamp designs, but instead focused on getting the shots laid out, in the right order, and with the right basic timing that we are looking for. More detailed versions of the interior and the other lamps can hopefully just be inserted into this.

We'll discuss shortly!
Hey Blake! Great stuff. It might be easier to comment on frames individually if you also post individual images since that is more convenient to thumb through. But the youtube video does give a great idea of pacing. also number frames like jon mentioned last class- as a result my numbering might be off a bit.
ReplyDeleteI think your design of the house is really appealing, and I definitely want to incorporate all the snow on it into the designs as well.
For the opening shot, I would suggest something more dynamic rather than a flat-on view. Also, consider the rule of thirds - the house is dead center and may have more visual interest if it is slightly to the side and foliage or what not is pointing to it.
Second frame is a bit confusing. if you are trying to convey the truck coming towards us, perhaps more emphasis on the truck? it feels like the truck is coming from the back of the house for some reason.
third frame is really clear! Nice job keeping the truck on the same side of the screen - 180degree rule.
4th frame- we see door, not quite clear that this is the interior of the house. we need a closer shot of the house where we can see the door in full. Also, the next action is the delivery guy getting out of the car. I think we need some in-between shots to make it clear this is a delivery man dropping off a package. reference the storyboard notes we have pinned on the wall.
5th frame- hmm.. this is clear, but perhaps it could be more effective if it we tried some shots from the perspective of the delivery man. actually that would make sense because from his pov we would see the interior of the house and understand that it's a house. also we need to see him leaving.
6th frame- an overview of the room might be helpful to understand the space before we start focusing in on parts of it.
7th frame- we see the octolamp and it moves to the center of the frame. this is a bit disorienting, not 180 degree rule (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/180-degree_rule). watch out also for composition, you tend to place things dead center of the frame.
:25- what is the lamp doing? a bit unclear
:26 - i think we need to see all the lamps in the space together since i am confused what direction they're moving in/where the box is - it might help to create a layout of the space so we know what part of the room they're all moving towards.
What do you think of your intro versus Katie's intro? sorry this was long!
